If You Dare (Deanna Madden #3)- A Review

I don't think Alessandra Torre could write a book that I would dislike. I began my adventures with her through her Innocence trilogy before branching into her A.R. Torre side with The Girl In 6E. Whether it's something like Innocence that's a bit softer and more sensual, or Deanna Madden with its Dexter-meets- Fifty Shades vibe, I'm thrilled. As Torre states, Deanna is her "wicked girl". She honestly is, and she'll always have that darkness, but I don't think she'll ever realize her potential fo Good morning, everyone! Happy Monday! I just noticed that this is my 50th post! Depending on how you look at that, it could be a good or a bad thing. I either read a lot, or I have too much time on my hands. I'm assuming you all enjoy your novels as much as I do and are therefore forever looking for suggestions, so cheers to 50 more postings! I know I said I'd group series books together in one review, but when I started the one I'm going to discuss today, I thought it was going to serve as a stand-alone, which was The Girl In 6E (You can find my review here: Deanna Madden #1). Since then, A.R. Torre has put out two more books in this series and they are awesome! You can read my review of Do Not Disturb here: Deanna Madden #2 and today, I'm obviously bringing you my thoughts on book three. I had pre-ordered this book via Amazon and an alert on my phone said it wouldn't be delivered until Tuesday. You can imagine my surprise when it turned up on Saturday morning instead. I basically dropped what I was doing and began reading instantly, and I'm not sorry that I did. If You Dare just made me love this whole series more than I already thought I could. Whether it's something like Innocence that's seemingly softer and more sensual, or Deanna Madden with its Dexter-meets- Fifty Shades vibe, I'm thrilled to the max by these books. They all take up permanent residents in prime spots on my beloved book shelves. As Torre states, Deanna is her "wicked girl" and I don't think I could describe her any better. She honestly is wicked, and she'll always have that darkness that lingers just below the surface of what humanity wants her to be, but I don't think she'll ever realize her potential for goodness the way she should. Yes, she's dangerous, but she targets with purpose, so I find myself siding with her no matter what... Even if she's breaking all sorts of laws. I never read author's notes, it's just something I don't normally do, but I'm glad I did on this book. To know Torre has more in store for Deanna has me thrilled beyond words. My heart raced, it shattered, it was a million things.. All within 300+ pages. Job well done, even if there was a bit of a cliffhanger with the whole J situation. I will be chomping at the bit until there's a book four. I need more of Deanna and her twisted mind. Do Not Disturb (Deanna Madden #2)- A Review

Hello, all!! I know, I know. Another review in roughly a twenty-four hour period. What can I say? Today was a slow day at the office so I was able to binge read. The book stepping up to the plate this evening? Do Not Disturb by A. R. Torre. I'm not even going to waste time with some random jibber-jabber, but instead, get right into process and review. 

I was worried that just coming off of the Outlander series, I wouldn't be interested in something new, something less powerful in a story. I figured the escapades of Claire and Jamie Fraser would be too tough of an act to follow. After spending months with an extremely involved series, and then immediately jumping into something new could cause a lack of commitment or enthusiasm for the current text, and I really didn't want that experience. Needless to say, I'm glad I chose this book. I was a massive fan of 6E so I just had an underlying feeling that its sequel wouldn't disappoint either regardless of my previous reading situation/book depression. 

The sequel to The Girl in 6E has been sitting on my shelf for months, so I'm thrilled I finally got to it. I was a fan of Torre's Innocence trilogy back in the day, so I'm enjoying a new, edgier side of her work. 

Deanna Madden is a complex creature, but she reminds me very much of a female Dexter. Twisted emotions, but at her core, a good person with an understanding of right and wrong. She may have yet to realize that, but in two books now, she has killed, but with more than enough justified reason. Despite her tragic past, her flaws, and the blinders blocking her from what she's capable of feeling within, she doesn't deserve to be locked away in her 900 square foot apartment and shut up from the joys of the outside world. Understandably, she's treading carefully, but is finally letting some walls come down. 

Despite the overall ominous and macabre feel, I'm ecstatic that there was her own version of a happy (and sexy might I add) ending to this installment. Enjoy Jeremy, girl! You deserve him... plus, he's a good egg! 

Needless to say, I can't wait for book three to come out. I'll be chomping at the bit until November!!

The Girl In 6E (Deanna Madden #1)- A Review

Hey all! I know, I know, I'm going through books like crazy. No worries, I just started a new job so I feel like my binge reading may take a small hit again. I may have a smidgen of lag-time between reviews. So, I apologize in advance if that's the case. Regardless, for now, I have my latest review ready for everyone. Tonight, it's The Girl in 6E by A. R. Torre. 

Having read Torre's Innocence trilogy, which is an erotic romance, I thoroughly enjoyed her debut into thriller. I just came off of reading Volition, which claimed to be dark (and wasn't) so with this one, I'm glad it followed through on every aspect. I was down right giddy reading this book. Take some Fifty Shades (or other, better erotica), and mix in just a pinch of Dexter, and you have 6E, which made me happy in every way possible. It wasn't fluffy or light-hearted, but carried just a hint of hope at the end. This allows for the reader to be both content, and go slightly insane wondering which way the chips will fall come book two. 

Our narrator has been through some serious shit, (pardon my language) and unlike most heroine narrators, I actually believed her. Growing up the sole survivor of a mass family murder, and having the urge to kill as well, it's no wonder she shuts herself inside her apartment and plays hermit for years on end. 

I loved delving into the lesser known world of camming and how it could range from the slightly perverted closet links to therapy sessions, to financial exchanges, and eventually, a full-blown criminal investigation. Our lead alias may have the burning desire to kill, but she also has a shred of a heart left to come to the aid of a helpless victim when one of her clients starts to get wacky. 

Can she really come to the rescue when she's needed the most, or does JessicaReilly19 let her demons get the best of her? This book is a real example of how good and evil battle out to determine who wins. I'm going to leave this review short and sweet, or sinister, rather, and let you guys go get yourselves a copy.
